The employment are all persons engaged in a productive activity within the production boundary used in the national accounts.

\n\tPersons in employment are employees or self-employed persons. Persons holding more than one job are classified as employees or self-employed according to their main job.

\n

\n\tDue to cyclical revisions of the results in the LFS survey (the main source of employment data according to ESA 2010), resulting from a change in the basis for generalizing the results to population balances based on the results of the current National Population and Housing Census (NSP) – every few years an update and EMP ESA data recalculation happen. Therefore, the data are based on generalized LFS results: from 2003 according to NSP 2002, from 2010 - NSP 2011 and from 2019 - NSP 2021 and are not fully comparable between these periods.

\n

\n\tBesides, due to the fact that the survey LFS was not conducted in Poland in 2Q and 3Q 1999 - in accordance with Eurostat's decision - an estimate of missing data was made.

\n

\n\tQuarterly employment data in persons and hours worked seasonal adjusted using the TRAMO/SEATS method in the JDEMETRA+ software. Seasonal adjustment consists in removing the seasonal component, i.e. fluctuations in the series value around its development tendency for a period not exceeding one year. The seasonally adjusted series created after this operation contains a trend (developmental tendency) and an irregular component. When making seasonal adjustments, calendar effects are also removed (resulting from the different arrangement of movable holidays in particular years and the fact that the same dates fall on different days of the week, which results in a change in the number of working days in the same months of the year) - if the series may contain them with due to its structure and substantive specificity. In the case of employment data, the elimination of the working days effect does not apply.

\n\tAnnual employment data in persons and hours worked are published gradually, as greater details are available in selected levels of NACE Rev. 2 activity, i.e.:

\n\tQuarterly employment data in persons and hours worked are published approx. 3 months after the reference period.
